Keith Sanders – Councillor

Born in UK, BSc Mechanical Engineering – London University.
Joined Kelly and Lewis as Regional Manager SE Asia in 1977 before moving to Melbourne in 1981. Has held senior positions in TBJ and Ajax Pumps. Spent 4 years in Hong Kong and China for KSB to finalise the Joint Venture with Shanghai Pumps Works.
Completed an MBA at Deakin University before starting Australian Industrial Marketing in 1997 providing consultancy services and training programs to the Pump Industry.
Alan Rowan – Councillor
Alan has spent the best part of 50 years in the Pump Industry with just a few short breaks. He arrived in Australia from Scotland via New Zealand in 1976 to work nearly 10years at Ingersoll-Rand, this was followed by over 10 years at Kelair Pumps then a short stint at Southern Cross with final 5 years at Link Pumps before going into semi retirement at the end of 2005. He still does part time work in the industry. In the late 70’s to early 80’s Alan served on the Technical Committee until 1987. He also joined Council in 1981 and served until around 1992 including 3 years as President. In 2003 he rejoined Council and over an almost 2 year period from mid 2006 produced the latest editions of the Technical and Friction Handbooks.
John Inkster – Vice President
Brown Brothers Engineers
John Inkster is the CEO of Brown Brothers Engineers Ltd New Zealand, Brown Brothers Engineers Australia Pty Ltd and Kelair Pumps Australia Pty Ltd. John joined Brown Brothers Engineers Ltd in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1986 and moved to Australia in January 2000. Prior to joining Brown Brothers Engineers, John worked for a firm of engineering consultants in Christchurch for 12 years and was involved in the design and construction of rural water supply schemes, and feasibility studies for large irrigation schemes. During this time, John spent two years in Western Samoa as part of New Zealand’s bilateral aid agreement with the Western Samoan government designing and constructing small village based water supply schemes on the islands of Upolu and Savaii. Brown Brothers Engineers was formed in 1908 and is one of New Zealand’s oldest pump companies. Brown Brothers Engineers and Kelair Pumps are part of the Mace Group of Companies a third generation, family-owned engineering company headquartered in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Ashley White – Councillor
Ashley White is the Market Development Manager – Water and Water Treatment for Davey Water Products Pty Ltd. Ashley has had a number of sales and marketing roles within Davey over more than thirty years. A majority of product advancements from Davey over the last 25 years have had Ashley’s hand in them. In this time Ashley has travelled around the world seeing both pump applications and manufacturing of a vast variety. Like many people in the pump industry of his generation, Ashley started his pump career with Southern Cross, doing their 2 month in house intensive training course in Toowoomba in 1980. Ashley has a BA, and a background in both farming and automotive trades. His interests are gardening and Rugby Union.
David Alexander – President
Working for KSB Australia for 21 years.
During this period, Dave has been a Sales Engineer, Queensland Sales Manager, National Sales Manager and during the past 9 years, he held the position of Managing Director for KSB Australia, reporting to the North America region within the KSB Group.
Prior to his career with KSB Australia, he spent five years with John Crane Seals and completed an apprenticeship at the Newcastle Steel works.
He has studied Marine Engineering and Management.
Outside of his working life, Dave enjoys proving resilience and spirit in long distance events. He enjoys running; he normally runs the Gold Coast and Sydney Marathons each year, along with several half marathons.
This year he has also taken up trail running and is a member of the Brisbane Trail Runners group. Recently, he’s taken up obstacle course racing.
In 2015 he completed the Spartan Beast Elite, a 24km race with 36 obstacles, and recently the True Grit 24hr endurance race held the June long week near Lower Portland, 1.5hrs drive north west of Sydney.

Jim Athanas – Councillor
Xylem Water Solutions Pty Ltd
Jim Athanas leads Xylem’s commercial operations across the Oceania region, encompassing Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. In this role, he is responsible for all sales, service, marketing, engineering and supply chain strategy and execution with continued emphasis on operational improvement, growth and profitability. He was named Managing Director of Xylem’s Oceania Commercial Team in July 2015.
Prior to joining Xylem, Mr Athanas served as Managing Director at Nilfisk, before that, he held a number of increasingly responsible positions at Ecolab, including Vice President & General Manager of the Water Care division Pacific. Earlier in his career, he held various sales and marketing positions in the water industry servicing the oil, power, steel, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries.
Mr Athanas holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), a Master of Management from Macquarie University Graduate School of Management (MGSM) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
